Resetting your device is the most common way to solve this problem.

  • Place the earbuds inside the case
  • Lift the lid.
  • Hold the system button down for 15 seconds until the LED light turns red and white.
  • Click the button
  • The device will flash white and continue to blink, which indicates that it has been reset.
  • Now, re-pair Powerbeats Pro to the device.

This should resolve the problem. If it doesn’t, you can move on to the next step.

Upgrading Your Firmware

Next, make sure your firmware is up-to-date on your Powerbeats Pro and the device you are trying to connect to it.

Your Powerbeats Pro should automatically update if you have an Apple device. However, the update can sometimes be delayed in some instances. If this happens, it is best to manually update your device to ensure that your device is current.

You can do it on an IOS device using:

  • Your Powerbeats Pro and your device can be paired
  • Go to Settings > General > About
  • Scroll down to select your Powerbeats Professional
  • The firmware version will be visible to you.

To check the status of your Powerbeats Pro, you must download the Beats app on Android from Google Play Store.

Using the Beats App, you can manually update your firmware if it isn’t up-to-date.

For this task, you will need a computer/laptop. Both mac and windows are acceptable.

  • Install the Beats App
  • Follow the screen instructions.
  • Use a lightning cable to plug your device’s charger case
  • You can manually update your device if it isn’t up to date with the latest firmware.

Automated Ear Detection Is Disabled

Some built-in features may cause an earbud not to connect with your device. Automatic ear detection is a significant feature known to be causing this problem.

Automatic ear detection checks if your earbuds have been placed in your ear to determine if you wish to play/ pause your music. This is how to disable this feature on an IOS device.

  • Go to Settings.
  • Select Bluetooth
  • Click the “i” icon beside Powebeats PRO
  • Turn off automatic ear detection.

Clean PowerBeats & Case

Sometimes the Powerbeats Pro won’t pair or charge appropriately due to improper positioning in the charging case. This could be caused by dirt or earbuds. Earbuds that are sweaty can also cause problems with charging and pairing. You can ensure that the problem isn’t caused by sweat or dirt by cleaning both the charging case and the earbuds.

  • Take out the earbuds.
  • Use a cotton swab gently dampened in warm water to clean the charging contacts of your device.
  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with warmth to clean the charging pins.
  • Finally, clean the Powerbeats Pro and Case with a dry, lint-free cloth.

Here Are Some Other Methods

To find out what solved their problem, we reached out to other users with similar problems and some of our readers. Here are they:

Keep Your Earbuds In The Case Plugged In And Charged By Pressing Down On The Button.

A reader suggested a way to fix this problem by pressing down on the earbuds that aren’t charging; you will need to connect the charger before this can be done.

Drain The Battery

This was solved by one user who took out the battery from the case and the earbuds, and then recharged it again.

Keep Your Earbuds In The Case And Move Them Slightly.

One user claims that she was able to solve her problem by moving the main screen of her IOS phone to the right. This will display the Powerbeats Pro battery levels. Next, open the Powerbeats Pro charging box. Now you can see the charging case on your device and each earbud’s percentage. Each Powerbeats Pro should have a ‘bolt-of-lightning’ icon beside it to indicate that the device is charging.

If there isn’t a lighting icon beside one of the earbuds, move the charging case around until the ‘bolt’ image appears on the screen. Once both earbuds have the lighting icon, close the lid, and it should work.

Dry Your PowerBeats Pro

One reader claims that sweat was the cause of her problem. The only thing she had to do was dry the connectors and earbuds.

Pair And Disconnect Your Powerbeats Pro With A Previously Paired Device

One reader shared that he was able to solve his problem by connecting his Powerbeats Pro with a previously connected device and then disconnecting from the device. Reattach the earbuds to the case and restart the Powerbeats Pro. Connect it to the new device.

You Can Use A Different Charging Device For Your Powbeats Pro.

One user discovered that charging the Powerbeats Pro on another device solved his problem. If you had previously charged your device from a wall outlet and it was not working, you can now charge it using your computer.

Wait 5 Minutes Before Pairing To A Different Device.

One user claims that he solved his problem by unpairing his Powerbeats Pro, turning off Bluetooth, and connecting the Powerbeats Pro to another device. After waiting 5 minutes, he paired them up with his original device.

Last Thoughts

This seems to be a common issue for Powerbeats Pro users. However, one or more of these methods should still work. If none of these options work, you can contact Apple to request a replacement. If the warranty is valid and they confirm that your earbuds have been damaged, they will send you a replacement. This was my hope!
