Tom Cruise considers age a number. He is 58 and is the only actor of his generation. Tom Cruise’s blockbuster action films with new tools and gadgets are the first to come to mind when someone mentions Tom Cruise movies.
His wild and crazy flicks are always entertaining, with him performing larger-than-life stunts or action sequences. His films can be found in every format and platform.
Tom Cruise has been one of the biggest movie stars of all time for more than 35 years. Despite his incredible staying power, endurance, and ability to remain at the top of his industry, Cruise is a small actor who rarely makes sequels. Apart from Jack Reacher: Never Go Back & next year’s Top Gun: Maverick, Mission: Impossible: Ethan Hunt was the only part that the 58year-old actor has ever done more than once.
So, we collected some Tom Cruise movies from Netflix, so you can add them to your watchlist if you haven’t already.
Mission Impossible – All Parts
We should not even mention this. The MI franchise, which is the largest and most famous of all Tom Cruise movies, is undoubtedly the best. The 5 par film series is a signature label with its trademark music that nearly everyone is familiar with. Ethan Hunt, an American spy serving the IMF (Impossible Mission Force), was always available to take on the mission if he chose. Ethan pledges to protect his country, his organization, and his task force.
The MI series is now 6 parts long, with a 7th part in the works. They have so far made more than $3B in box office revenues.
Collateral is Tom Cruise’s best work in the last decade. It may not be as well-known as his other films but it is a gripping and intense thriller that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat. This film has Tom Cruise playing Max, an assassin who must protect Vincent (Jude Law), a taxi driver targeted for assassination by one of New York City’s major crime families because he has witnessed their boss commit murder. Tom Cruise’s performance as Max is compelling and thrilling to watch.
Tom Cruise’s films on Netflix are the perfect way to get lost in a movie. Whether Tom Cruise is in full-on action mode or building up his trademark intensity with an Oscar-worthy performance, Tom Cruise has something for everyone on Netflix.
War of the Worlds (2005)
I have a confession to make: I’m not much of a Tom Cruise fan. In fact, there’s only about five movies that he did that I like and chose to rewatch over and over again. However, War of the Worlds starring Tom Cruise is my favorite among his films.
Even though this isn’t the first adaptation about H.G Wells’ novel of the same name, this one has a lot more action in it than previous versions such as Steve Spielberg’s adoption from 2005 which was also amazing (and available on Netflix too) but with less shooting/fighting than the version starring Tom Cruise.
Tom Cruise plays Ray Ferrier who gets caught up in an epic alien war when earth is attacked by aliens who are known to take control of the humans’ bodies. Ray and his daughter are attacked by one such alien that manages to escape into the streets of New York City. The two seek refuge in a house where they meet up with another man who has a connection with these aliens. Together, they fight off invaders from outer space while trying to stay alive themselves as well.
This movie was like watching fireworks go off on screen because there’s so much action that it’ll blow your mind away – no pun intended (but I mean, honestly). It’s rare for me to watch an alien invasion film without getting bored but this one was intense enough that it kept me at the edge of my seat until the very end. You will definitely enjoy watching War of the Worlds starring Tom Cruise.
Jack Reacher (2012)
Tom Cruise’s Jack Reacher is a classic vigilante action film. This movie follows the adventures of an ex-military investigator, portrayed by Tom Cruise, as he tries to clear his name for a murder he didn’t commit. The audience sees him hunt down and interrogate all those who were involved in the crime, showcasing an impressive fighting streak when provoked. With the right amount of suspense this movie promises to keep you gripped throughout.
Tom Cruise has starred in some of the highest-grossing and most memorable action films ever made. His portrayal of Jack Reacher is nothing short of stunning, exhibiting his skills perfectly. He takes on this role with perfection, showing that he can deliver an action movie with or without guns. This film is a must see for all fans of vigilante-style action films, and a must see on Netflix in 2021.
The Firm (1993)
Tom Cruise plays a lawyer that goes to work for a big law firm, but quickly finds out that it’s actually an organization of mobsters. The Firm is based on the John Grisham novel and is similar to other good Grisham movies like A Time To Kill. It also has one of my favorite supporting actors in Gene Hackman.
This film is available on Netflix, Amazon Video, YouTube.
Edge of Tomorrow (2014)
The Tom Cruise sci-fi war film is an ambitious and exciting reworking of the Groundhog Day formula. The Tom Cruise movies on Netflix 4K delivers spectacular visuals, thrills that don’t let up for an instant, intriguing characters and deep themes about the meaning of life.
Tom Cruise stars as a public relations officer forced into battle with aliens and finds himself stuck in a time loop. While it’s difficult to tell what’s going on for much of the Tom Cruise movie online streaming plot at first, once you get used to this fascinatingly mind bending Tom Cruise film online streaming storyline things start to make sense – then it gets better and more complex than you ever expected.
Tropic Thunder (2008)
Tom Cruise Tom and his fellow actors went in front of the cameras to form Tropic Thunder. It is a comedy film that was released on August 15, 2008. The movie had been nominated for Golden Globe Awards and Tom also won the Best Actor – Musical or Comedy award at the ceremony of MTV Movie Awards. Tom placed 8th position in Digital Spy’s greatest action star poll held in 2011.
Tom’s only other movie in 2008 was Valkyrie (2008) Tom Cruise Tom played the leading role in the film. Tom portrays Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg who is a German officer who joined the 20 July Plot to assassinate Hitler. Tom also received nominations for several awards and won two of them, one at the Rome Film Festival and another at the London Critics Circle Film Awards.
One of Tom Cruise’s earliest movies, “The Outsiders” was about a group of young teenage boys who were considered outsiders in their hometown. The film also starred Patrick Swayze, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez and Matt Dillon. Cruise played the role of Moonshine, whose gang is trying to escape from another gang led by Cager (played by Matt Dillon).
Cruise gives an emotional scene toward the end of the movie while reciting poet Walt Whitman’s “Oh Captain! My Captain!” to his dying friend Johnny (played by Patrick Swayze) after he was shot during a fight between rival gangs.
Eyes Wide Shut
This may be one of Tom Cruise’s least popular movies among movie-goers. However, it is still an excellent movie that has great acting on its part (and several other parts). Cruise plays Dr. William Harford who is married to Nicole Kidman’s character Alice.
He is led into a weird adventure while trying to find out what happened to a young woman at a party he and his wife attended the night before after she was drugged and raped. When he finally figures out what really happened at the party during this weird odyssey, he learns about the world of sex experiments & rituals between various members of high society in New York City.
Cruise does an excellent job playing the part of Dr. William Harford, especially during the “orgy” scenes. The film also stars Sydney Pollack and Todd Field.
